Urbane, soziale und ökologische Zusammenhänge bilden die Grundprinzipien des Projekts für die neue Primarschule am Walkeweg in Basel. Das städtebauliche Ensemble besteht aus drei Häusern: Aulagebäude, Tagesstruktur und Klassentrakt. Aula und Tagesstruktur im Süden sind dem Quartiersplatz zugewandt und für die Nachbarschaft mitnutzbar. Der Klassentrakt im Norden ist dem konzentrierten Lernen gewidmet. Die drei Gebäude umrahmen den Tiny Forest, einem begrünten Pausenhof und Spielplatz, der sowohl den SchülerInnen als auch Kindern aus der Nachbarschaft offensteht. Die Aufgabenstellung verlangt eine innovative und nachhaltige Schule. Die Architektur orientiert sich am nachhaltigen Bauen. Sie ist einfach, frei und konkret. Low-Tech Konzept, Holz- und Lehmkonstruktionen sowie räumlich integrierte Photovoltaik-Elemente. Aulagebäude und Tagesstruktur sind zum Platz orientiert und haben zwei Geschosse. Der Klassentrakt hat fünf Ober- und zwei Untergeschosse mit einem Zwischengeschoss.

Le bâtiment de l'aula et la structure de jour sont orientés vers la place et comptent deux étages. L'aile réservée aux salles de classe compte cinq étages supérieurs et deux étages inférieurs avec une mezzanine.
